A Chat with Sarah

It's a lot harder to catch Sarah babbling on video than it was with James (see this video from when James was Sarah's age). I've tried several times, and so far this is the best one we've gotten. I happen to especially like this one because until now, much to Paul's excitement, Sarah's favorite syllable to babble has been "Da". Today she decided to give me some love too, and switched to "Ma". :) She's so funny. She likes to whisper her sounds. Maybe it's to counteract her loud and rambunctious older brother. I don't know, but it sure is cute!

Sarah Loves her Bouncer

I thought this was so funny. She had already been doing it for a while before I got the camera out. So funny!

Scooting is on the horizon!

In the last week or two, Sarah has really started trying to figure out how to scoot. She gets frustrated when something is just barely out of reach. She has started using this method where she leans all the way to one side and pushes with her feet while reaching with her arms and then leans to the other side and does the same thing. It's slow going, but she does make progress! I've noticed in the last day or two that she is starting to get her knees underneath her from time to time. Before we know it, she's going to figure it out!

This is one of those videos that really only family will probably like. It's on the boring and long side of things. But I noticed that she was moving towards the blocks James had been playing with, so I ran and grabbed the camera as quickly as I could. I just caught the tail end of it on the video. Hopefully you can get the idea of what she does.

Crazy, crazy! Her older brother was just about this age when he figured out the army crawl. Maybe Sarah is more like him than we thought!

Sarah and James

I just wanted to share a couple pictures of my cute kids. :) They sure love each other!

Still Halloween?

I know, I know, next week is Thanksgiving. I just couldn't move on to the next holiday before sharing our pumpkin carving adventures with you all. On the Friday before Halloween, Natalie and her roommate came over and we had a good time carving our pumpkins.

We all dove right into the gross pumpkin guts, except for James. James needed a bit more...coaxing.

Aren't we terrible parents for posting that video online? I know. I just couldn't help it. He warmed up to the idea after that.

And here are the pumpkins!

Paul and I took our inspiration from Becca and Katie's halloween costumes, and went with a Mario theme. This was the first time we tried anything fancy together. I did the drawing, and Paul did the cutting. :)

Ok, now we can move on to Thanksgiving!

There was a farmer, had a pig...

...and Sarah was her name-o?

You know, it's really hard to get good pictures of a toddler and a baby at the same time. Exceedingly hard. Here are the best pictures we got before we went to our ward's trunk-or-treat last Saturday.

Sarah made a really cute pig. And she even kept the nose on the whole time because she figured out that she could suck on the bottom of it. :) James liked dressing up like a farmer, mostly because of the cowboy hat.

Maybe we'll get better Halloween pictures next year...

Pumpkin Patch Trip!

James and I have gone to the Pumpkin Patch every year since we moved here. This year we brought Paul, Natalie, and Sarah along with us! :) We had a fun time, even if it was a little rainy and chilly out.

There were a few animals to see.

It's too bad I don't have a picture of James next to this scarecrow from last year! Then we could see how much he has grown.

He really didn't want to stand next to it for some reason. Maybe the scarecrow scared him!

Sarah stayed dry and warm with her daddy the whole time:

James thought the little boat was pretty cool (after he got over his initial fear). He sure loves his aunt Natalie!

Natalie helped James find the perfect pumpkin. The stem is shaped like a handle, so he could pick it up by himself.

Then, we got to ride a little train back from the patch to the barn area. This was by far James' favorite part. Like most boys, he just loves trains!

Sarah liked it, too. :)

It sure is beautiful up here. I really do feel blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

I think we have a new family tradition. :)

Thanks for coming with us, Natalie! It was so much fun!

Four Month Stats

Wow, I can't believe a month has passed since I shared those last pictures! Time is flying by as usual!

This week Sarah had her four month check up. It was a little delayed since we went to Utah at the end of September and then our pediatrician was out of town. She's actually going to be five months old next week! So crazy!

Here are her latest statistics:

weight: 14 lbs 2 oz (43rd percentile)
height: 24.5 inches (39th percentile)
head: 42 cm (64th percentile)

Pretty average sized! She's growing at a steady rate, and looks nice and healthy.

We love our Sarah!

Fun with the Bathroom Mirror

When it's just me at home with the kids during the day, I have to get creative to get cute pictures of Sarah. She'll be all smiles until the camera comes out, and then she just stares blankly.

I tried a new tactic today. It wasn't all that successful, but it was lots of fun (especially for James)!

As soon as James heard me in the bathroom trying to get Sarah to smile, he came running and squealing, LOUDLY. He does this quite often, and it always scares Sarah, and she makes this face:

Then, James starting yelling, "Look! It's me! Look, mommy, it's me!" So, I had to take a picture of him, too:

Sarah is so beautiful.

And I love that smile!

Baby Beluga in the Deep Blue Sea

It's been a while since I shared one of James' songs with you all. This is one of my favorite new ones he has learned recently. I wish he would sit still better! This was the best I could get on video.

Taking a page out of James' book

Here's James at about the same age as Sarah now (just a few weeks older):

And here's Sarah:

Only difference is that James always thought it was hilarious when he did things like this, and Sarah was quite upset at the predicament she had gotten herself into.

Sarah reached a milestone this weekend. She rolled over for the first time! Paul missed the first time on Friday, but then he got to see her do it again on Saturday. And now, when I put her on her tummy she rolls over almost immediately. :) I was worried she wasn't going to roll over for a long time because we aren't too good about giving her tummy time, but apparently she hates it enough that she had the motivation to figure it out. Here's a little video of it.

September is just flying by. I can't believe how fast time is passing these days. At the end of this month Sarah will be 4 months old! It's insane.

She's sure cute, though!

Gotta love it!

This kid gets the best bed hair. Seriously. :)

I sure love my boy!

Our little cutie!

Time is flying! I can't believe that Sarah is more than two and a half months old already!

We sure love our cute girl! (I just had to share this picture. I don't have time to write a whole post right now, but it's just too cute to wait. :) )

Funny Photo Friday?

I don't know if it's just me, but Sarah's expression in this picture just cracked me up. Two and a half months old, and she's already tired of the camera!

Two Months Old!

Today Sarah is two months old! I can't believe how fast time is flying. It seems like just yesterday she was our tiny little 7 pound baby. We'll find out tomorrow at her doctor's appointment how much she weighs now, but she has definitely grown.

Here are some pictures I took just today (we had a little Two Month Photo Shoot):

James wanted to get in on the action too (this one is definitely my favorite :) ).

And here's a video of Sarah in action. I managed to catch a couple little smiles. That noise in the background? Yeah, that's James. Silly, silly, James.

C is for Cookie

What a slacker I've been! I can't believe it's been a month since I posted anything on the blog! We've been having fun as usual. We went to California a couple weeks ago and had an awesome trip including Sarah's blessing, the beach, Disneyland, the Home Run Derby, and the All-Star Game! I'll try and post some pictures and stories in the upcoming days. :)

Until then, here's a song that James picked up when we were in California. His Uncle Jeff would sit at the computer with him and his other nephew Michael and watch YouTube videos with them over and over. James thought it was the best thing ever!

Yeah, how do you like that two-year-old tantrum there at the end? Unfortunately, those have become common in our household these days. We're working on it. ;)

First Smiles!

Sarah saves her best smiles for her Daddy, and tonight we managed to catch a few on camera! Isn't she beautiful?

Little Sarah Megumi

I haven't had the chance to type up any more long posts yet, but I thought I'd post a few more pictures of our Sarah. I know newborns change very fast, so I figured at least family members would be excited for some new pictures. :)

We love our little girl!
